The Anglican clergyman Reverend Brymer Belcher was born in 1819 at Wandsworth and baptised at Putney St Mary on 31st December the son of Alexander Brymer Belcher and his wife Maria nee Alcock. He was ordained a deacon in 1843 and a priest in 1844 and from 1843-1845 was a curate at West Tistead, Hampshire. In 1845 he became curate of St Peter, Pimlico and appointed vicar of the new parish St Gabriel, Pimlico. In 1866 he founded the Belgrave Hospital for Children in the parish and in 1879 was elected to the London School Board as one of the representatives of Westminster. He retained the seat until 1885, when he was appointed Vicar of Bodiam, Sussex where he died suddenly on 25th November 1894, aged 75.
