Preview:Henry Nye (1813-1894) was one of thirteen children of Edward Nye and Sarah née King. Henry married Elizabeth Nash 11 November 1833 and had three children. In 1839 he abandoned his family and joined the 52nd Regiment of Light Infantry at Lewes. The regiment sailed to Nova Scotia in 1840 where, in 1844, he married bigamously Catherine Randle. Two years later they returned to England and had two sons. In 1853 Henry and his new family sailed for India with the 52nd Regiment of Foot to serve during the Indian Mutiny. He was discharged from the army in 1861 and in 1888 he was admitted as an In-Pensioner a the Royal Military Hospital, Chelsea where he died in 1894.
