Abstract:The recent restoration of the conical up-draught brick kiln in the village of Piddinghoe has prompted further research into the Baker family. This report follows an earlier document prepared by the author and published by the Sussex Industrial Archaeology Society. The Baker family were long established in Piddinghoe before evidence of brick-making becomes apparent. Parish registers show Bakers in profusion throughout the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries in the village.
