Preview: In the late 18th and early 19th century the Brede Pottery was owned by Henry Richardson who had married Sarah Rumens in 1794 after his first wife died. Edward Rumens was one of the craftsmen at the pottery. He was called up for the Sussex Militia in 1809, but ran away and disappeared until 1814 changing his name to Miller. He was transported to Australia for 7 years for stealing and became a policeman in New South Wales.
