Abstract:
The twenty circular walks in this volume vary in length from 4 to 6 and three quarter miles and are enjoyable all the year round. The author has divided the routes into seasons to show each at its very best; whether it be the awakening of plants and animals in the Spring; the skylark singing overhead in the Summer; the golden glow of falling leaves in the Autumn; or the hoar frosts decorating the trees in the Winter.

West Sussex: A Dog Walker's Guide, by David Weller, published 27 April 2015 (96 pp., Countryside Books, ISBN-10: 184674332X & ISBN-13: 9781846743320) accessible at: West Sussex Libraries
Abstract:
A leisurely stroll in the countryside is always a pleasure for dog walkers. But after leaving the familiar local routes there are always the worries of suddenly finding a field full of sheep, or a busy road, not to mention the difficulty of knowing which pubs and cafes will welcome dogs. Here is a collection of 20 tried and tested circular walks. The routes vary in length from 2 to 6 miles and provide a great introduction for dogs and their owners to the superb landscape of West Sussex; exploring the high chalk grasslands of the South Downs; ancient woodland in the Low Weald; and scenic routes by the Ardingly Reservoir. There are plenty of opportunities for dogs to roam safely off lead in St Leonard's Forest, Houghton Forest or Hammonds Wood. Or for dogs who love water there are bracing walks by the coast, along the river Adur and the Wey and Arun Canal.
