Review by David Millum in Sussex Past & Present no. 124, August 2011:If you have ever wondered how the Weald & Downland Open Air Museum came into being, who had the first idea for the "impossible museum", who does all the hard work to keep it maintained, or if you just wanted to know about its history or more importantly its future, then Building History is very much the book you have been waiting for.

I have no hesitation in recommending Building History to anyone with an interest in vernacular buildings, rural life and history, living museums or our countryside in general. To those who have yet to visit the museum it would be a superb introduction and to those of us who have been on many occasions it is a great reminder of why we keep going back. I defy anyone not to have the urge to make the trip to Singleton after dipping into Building History's pages; which is probably how the book is best used rather than as a cover-to-cover read as necessitated by this review.
