Preview:Henry Snooke, born c.1657 the son of John Snooke of Dorchester, was educated at the Free Grammar School there and Christchurch, Oxford. He was ordained priest in 1681 and inducted to Stoughton before becoming Vicar of St Nicholas, Brighthelmston in 1682 and then Vicar of St. Mary the Virgin, Ringmer in 1690. He married first Mary Short of Lewes and they had one son Henry born 5 November 1693. Mary died 6 May 1903 and Henry then married Mary Rose a widow at Jevington on 4 February 1706. He died at the age of 70 on 16 October 1727 and is buried at Ringmer.
