The Midhurst Village Club occupies the buildings was formerly a Catholic Chapel. It was established by Anthony Joseph Browne, seventh Viscount Montague, in the 18th century, to serve the then large Catholic population in the district.

Abstract:
Obituary following the death of The Third Viscount Cowdray on 19 January 1995. Lord Cowdray was President of the celebrations to mark the 400th anniversary of the visit of Queen Elizabeth I to Cowdray in 1591. The celebrations were initiation by The Midhurst Society.
