During the years 1850-1853 William Thorpe of Hooe wrote eight letters to his grand-daughter, Harriet Thorpe of 8 Bryanston Street, London, my great-great-grandmother.

Abraham Gorham Thorpe (b. 1816) married Sophia Turley and had thee daughters and two sons. Abraham was a grocer in the village at Pett, Sussex in1841 but emigrated with his family to Queensland in 1863.

Brothers Manser John Thorpe and Horace Thorpe emigrated to America in 1861. Manser was a miller in Canada, but Horace joined the union army. Article covers the years 1861 - 1894 in the parish of Guestling and Ontario.
