Preview:My mother was an inveterate story teller and as a late-come child of her mid 40s I was subjected to a constant repetition of oft-told family tales; so much in fact that I tended to escape whenever possible. In spite of this avoidance strategy, I managed to imbibe much of this history whether I wanted to or not, but more importantly, I fortunately taped my mother's history and her recollection of my father's family history before she returned from Australia to England in 1997, where she died shortly thereafter.
