(139/2) HURSTPIERPOINT, St. George
Originally built as an Independent chapel by Charles Smith Hannington on his St George's estate. It became Church of England in 1868 when the family joined the established church. It was served from 1875 by Hannington's son, James, later Bishop of East Equatorial Africa, who was massacred in Uganda in 1885.
