(197) PEASMARSH, St. Peter & St. Paul
Norman core, chancel is Early English, Decorated South aisle - Nairn & Pevsner (578) and Livett (SAC 47 35-46); largely unrestored and full of atmosphere, now isolated from the village but within sight of the manor (Peasmarsh Place); paving in bad repair in 1686 (Ford 42); in 1724, the chancel belonged to one Edward Woodward (Ford 113); the parish had c.70 families in 1724 and a population of 611 in 1801.
