(214) RODMELL, St. Peter
Norman, South aisle pre-c.1200; Victorian restorations and additions - Nairn & Pevsner (590); in 1686, the floors were reportedly decayed (Ford 40); by 1724, the South chancel, belonging to William Bachellor of Lindfield (see 164U) was reported as in very poor state (Ford 144); the parish had c.30 families in 1724 and a population of 256 in 1801; some of the series of ledgers relocated in the sanctuary are partly obscured by an altar step.
