(25) BERWICK, St. Michael & All Angels

Nairn & Pevsner (414-15) note the over-restoration of 1856, e.g. North arcade; for an early view see Lambert (BL Add. MS 5676 f.73); in 1724, the church fabric was reported to be fine (Ford). 25B & C probably replace earlier ledger stones.

- 2 portrait busts (male to left, female to right), in 17^th century dress, in oval framed niches, on plinths; above, an achievement, swags and fruit; below, M.I. on rectangular panel (final lines added), a cornice over; base mouldings; flanked by scrolls; below, a cherub on an ornamental scrolled apron.
