280D Mural Monument for William THOMAS, d. 1639/40 and his wife Anne, d. 1625

-  Sanctuary, against South wall.

-  285(W) x 390(H)~Generally very good; local damage to lower projecting mouldings and angels' wings; colour visible throughout.

-  2 kneeling, robed figures at a prayer desk, (William Thomas to East; Ann Thomas to West); on back wall, a black engraved M.I. tablet with scrollwork frames, death's head and escutcheon; in the coffered arch, a scrolled keystone; 2 columns. with black shafts flanking and beyond them, allegorical figures (angels); below, a deeper, then a lesser basement with 2 escutcheons to left and right, set at an angle, and 3 decorative panels of black touch with M.I.s (engraved); above, an entablature with segmented pediment and a large centred achievement.

-  William Thomas, armiger, d. 19 Feb 1639/40, aged 60; his wife of 22 years, Anne, d. 29 Aug 1625, aet c.49, daughter of John Michelborne, Gent., of Chichester, Gent.; their issue - William, Ann, Mary, Susan, Francesca, Elizabeth.
