(137) HORSTED KEYNES, St. Giles
Norman with 13th-century additions, North transept now gone, North arcade restored in 1888 - Nairn & Pevsner (540); in 1724 it was reported that the patron is William Pigot, a minor, and that one James Pigott owns a chancel in good repair (Ford); for the journal of the rector of Horsted Keynes (1655-79), Giles Moore, see Bird (Journal of Giles Moore); all arms recently restored.

- Anthony Ellis, b. 1630 - bur. 17 Jul 1712; his son, Thomas, b. 18 Jan 1684 - bur. 8 Mar 1754; their descendant, George Ellis, of East Grinstead.

- A thin black lunette on a narrow moulded cornice supported by fluted pilasters; a white oval plaque within a rectangular black panel; base moulding; below, 2 corbels with roundel decoration and a curved apron supporting an escutcheon; signed (lower right): 'Hargraves, Mason, Lewes'.

Chambers' (with Hebrew M.I. to right).
