123C Mural monument for Ellinor Jane MAITLAND, d. 1823

-  Nave, West wall, North of tower arch, high.

-  136(W); (H) inaccessible~Very good.

-  In pale grey marble; a pointed pediment, with escutcheon, over a frieze of garlands on Doric columns on fluted, scrolled corbels; M.I. (many lines, engraved, black); below, another small panel in the same material (52W x 34H) with a raised and chamfered centre; roses in corners.

-  Ellinor Jane Maitland, d. 15 Oct 1823, aet 21, buried 23 Oct 1823; daughter of late Gilbert Ansley, Esq., and Susannah, daughter of Sir Henry Blackman, Kt., of Lewes; and wife of Captain John Madan Maitland, Esq., married 24 Oct 1822; issue, one daughter, unnamed; On a separate tablet: Ellinor Jane Maitland's sister, Harriet Maclean, 10 May 1801 - 20 Sep 1830, died at Castelamare, Italy, buried at Naples, second daughter of General Frederick Maitland and wife of Donald Maclean, Esq.
