- Sir Herbert Whalley, Knt, born in Ringmer, died of a fever, 6 May 1689, aet 28, and interred in Trinity Church, Chester; his parents, John Whalley, Esq., and Elizabeth; his grandparents, Sir Herbert Springett, Bart., and Barbary [sic]; his wife, Dame Lucy Whalley.
