216F Mural monument for Nicholas FOWLE, d. 1656

-  South choir wall, near South-East corner; high up.

-  128(W) x c.180(H)~Fine; colour; local losses (escutcheon and lower edge).

-  Set portrait-wise in weathered (?), white freestone; M.I. (engraved, Latin) fills a slate panel; moulded frame with slender black panels; cornice with damaged escutcheon; below, between crudely fluted, scrolled corbels, a panel of trophies in relief.

-  Nicholas Fowle, d. 10 Dec 1656, aet 63; eldest son of Anthony Fowle formerly of Newick; his widow, Elizabeth, patron of 216F; Nicholas Fowle's service to Rape of Hastings.
