221A Wall mounted monument for John THREELE, d. 1654 or 1655

-  North transept, against North wall, West of North door.

-  116(W) x 260(H)~Fine: repainted.

-  M.I. (engraved, Latin) on a slate panel; set portrait-wise; elaborate architectural freestone frame; above, escutcheon against a fluted frieze; on top, segmented pediment breaking forward from pointed pediment; base mouldings and a high pedestal.

-  John Threele, d. 4 Sep 1654 or 1655; son of Thomas Threele, of Levisham (Leasam, Rye), Sussex; his widow, Anne [d.1641], daughter of Sir Henry Waldegrave, of Stanningbath, Sussex; quotes Matt. VII.12.
